Open letter to Health Insurance Companies: Do you propose to guard the henhouse?

Subject: Do you propose to guard the henhouse?
Quality, affordable health care available to all Americans is essential to a healthy society and nation. It is understandable that the insurance industry is required to make health insurance coverage profitable to its shareholders and the bottom line. It is, after all a business. When we're talking about the dignity and quality of human life, however, the industry's efforts to lobby Congress to protect profits is an unsuitable solution for the United States.
The industry has sought to make health care a business paying outrageous salaries to CEOs while raising insurance premiums to working families and American businesses. You have created a bureacracy designed to control costs, which essentially, denies care that doctors prescribe, and limits who and what will be covered.
It is unfathomable that you would work against your financial interests so let's be real - you cannot be trusted to handle health care reform. Because the industry has continued to be so profitable it is unconscionable and contrary to the interests of Americans to leave the solutions of "reform" in your hands. You can count on me to do what it takes to not let you derail this call for comprehensive health care reform that will finally provide quality, affordable health care for all.
