Asleep at the Wheel

So I had this conversation with a few people about the Blackwater "internment camp-like" facilities being built... and this is what they're for.

Press ignores congressional OK for martial law
By Robert Kubey

On October 17, 2006, when George W. Bush signed the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2007—a $538 billion military spending bill—he enacted into law a section called “Use of the Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies.” In the view of many, this Act substantially changed fundamental laws of the United States, giving Bush—and all future U.S. presidents—new and sweeping powers to use the U.S. military anywhere in the United States, virtually as he sees fit—for disaster relief, crowd control, suppression of public disorder, or any “other condition” that might arise.

That's nice.

From the BlackwaterUSA website:
We are not simply a "private security company." We are a professional military, law enforcement, security, peacekeeping, and stability operations firm who provides turnkey solutions.

BTW - I googled 'professional military' and it's all, you know, associated with military guys, mostly active duty, in the various branches - but not companies. Not so much for profit. Interesting.

A private firm that offers law enforcement. A private firm that offers military solutions. I haven't looked up mercenary (and then I did)... but for now I will just share this title - Scahill, Jeremy; Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army (2007), Nation Books - and make plans to read it so0n.

And perhaps await the National Guard (against their will) to police "any other condition" that may arise where I just might be.
